A CALL TO ALL CHRISTIANS IN AMERICA AND AROUND THE WORLD TO GATHER IN WASHINGTON, DC, FOR A SACRED ASSEMBLY ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2012
Can America be saved?
A coalition of grassroots Christian groups is hearing and heeding the trumpet call of God to gather God’s people in unity on October 20, 2012, in Washington, DC, for a day of national repentance, prayer and fasting, worship, and covenant ratification in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In this season of unprecedented social, economic, political, and spiritual crisis, our country faces the same kinds of destructive threats portrayed so vividly by the prophet Joel. Recognizing the imminent danger and devastation of our land, the “Save America” gathering seeks our national salvation through our humble repentance from sin and rededication to God. In brokenness and humility, we will come and prostrate ourselves before the Lord, crying out for God’s mercy and forgiveness on our wayward nation.
We will come in a spirit of blessing and honor, not cursing or criticism. As we cry out for a restoration of God’s blessing on America (“God, bless America!”), we will pray blessing over all those in authority (1 Timothy 2:1–3), loosing God’s presence, power, light, life, love, and glory through prophetic intercession and declarations. A foot-washing of our leaders is planned. We will confess and repent of any words, actions, and attitudes that have come from a spirit of unrighteous judgment. With no political agenda, we will pray for the establishment of God’s Kingdom principles in every sphere of culture and society.
Among the purposes of this gathering is the ratification and reaffirmation of the original covenant relationships established by America’s founders for the governance of our nation. America has a redemptive gift that must come forth for the glory of God. God has a dream for us—to fulfill our divine purpose and destiny, and thereby to release His blessing, purpose, and glory into the world. We will also acknowledge Israel’s covenant relationship with God by declaring our responsibility, as Gentile believers divinely grafted into the Abrahamic covenant (Romans 10–11), to stand uncompromisingly with the people and nation of Israel. We too have been blessed to be a blessing (Genesis 12:2–3).
This precedent-setting event is scheduled for 8 am–9 pm on Saturday, October 20, 2012, and will include live praise and worship, public intercession, audio-visual media, and a continuous prayer service. Throughout the day, a vanguard of worshipers from a rotation of many different groups of all ethnicities and styles will take positions around the Capitol building with a joyous offering of praise, dance, worship banners and flags (see 2 Chronicles 20:1–30). Opportunities to receive personal ministry will be available. We also intend to incorporate acts of kindness and practical demonstrations of love to bless the DC area.
Entire families are welcome at this historic gathering and non-Christians are cordially invited to attend and receive prayer; accommodations will be available for all. Young people especially are urged to participate, as there will be acknowledgment of the generational transfer of spiritual authority. Emerging leaders from among youth and children have a divine call on their lives, and at this gathering their elders will bless, honor, pray for and commission them for sacrificial service as world changers and history makers. There is no charge to attend; a freewill offering will be taken.
God’s desire is for salvation and blessing, not judgment. He longs to bring revival, awakening, and transformation to America and through us to the world as He prepares for the end-times harvest of souls. But God’s people must take our responsibility to stand in the gap, using the spiritual weapons of humility, contrition, self-abasement, holiness, obedience, sacrifice, worship, and blessing. We, God’s people, are the key to changing history.
2 Chronicles 7:14
Will you come? Our plight is desperate. Our gracious God is our only hope. The call is to all. Join us as we urgently cry out to our God to “Save America.”
“. . . And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Joel 2:32)
